As the parcels of land (for inner city councils) are quite small, the money generated from the sale would barely clear the rates arrears in many cases so would cost more to sell when you add in marketing, auction fees & commission (many of these lots would sell for a fixed commission rather than a % due to the low value and small level of Sale of land for overdue rates.
